How To Know Gods Will

Knowing the will of God comes with studying the Bible, believing it and obeying it. The Bible gives God*s will in writing. Individuals who are not committed to studying the Bible will not know the will of God. Studying the Bible is the foundational good work that we must be committed to. Without it we will never know what the other good works are.

Proverbs 16:3: Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

John 7:17: If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, (instruction) whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

When we are committed to doing what He wants, we will know God*s will.

Romans 12:1: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

We will not know the will of God or commit ourselves to it until we believe that His will is superior to our own. That is one facet of what faith in Him believes. His will is good, acceptable and perfect. Ours is not. We must present our bodies to Him. We must reject the will of the world. The world thinks it knows better than God. God*s will is superior to the will of the world. He does not want to admit it but a roadblock to knowing God*s will is a man believing that he knows better than God. As long as he thinks too highly of himself, he will not know the will of God. The renewing of our minds is pretty simple in one regard. If we get over the idea that we know best and come to the conclusion that God knows best, our mind will have been properly renewed. That simple change will transform us into obedient children. God knows best.

Romans 12:3: For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Thinking too highly of himself is pride plain and simple.

1 Peter 5:5: Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

When we are proud, we will not know the will of God.

Proverbs 3:5: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Proud individuals will trust in their own understanding, they will not study the Bible and they will not know the will of God. Often our commitment to the Bible starts small. As our commitment to the Bible grows, so will our knowledge of His will.
